I have the honour to transmit for Your

Lordship's consideration the accompanying copy of the

report submitted by a Committee appointed by me in June

last to deal with individual cases of difficulty and

similar problems which were bound to arise in the

application of the revised salaries scheme.

As stated in paragraph 3 of the report

a number of the Committee's recommendations were accepted by me ad intering subject in certain cases to Your Lord-

ship's approval. The correspondence dealing with the

Governor's telegram No.115

of 17th September, 1930. Governor's despatch No.390

of 31st July, 1930.

The other recommendations

contained in the first section of

the report were also approved by me on its presentation, subject to a similar reservation and with the exception of paragraph 9 dealing with the leave of Indian staff and paragraph 68 dealing with the salary of the Manager and Chief Engineer of the Railway, I have already address- ed to Your Lordship separate despatches as noted in the
